Sharimahton is the Deputy CEO of MATRADE (Exporters Development). The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is the national trade promotion agency of Malaysia where she has served since 2001. She is responsible for strategizing, planning and coordinating exporters development and digital trade programmes for Malaysian companies.  She was the Senior Director of Exporters Development and prior to that, the Director of Electrical & Electronics, Information and Communication Technology Division. She was coordinating and implementing export promotion strategies and activities for Malaysian companies in these industries. She had also served as the Trade Commissioner in MATRADE Los Angeles overseeing the North America market.  Before assuming the post in Los Angeles, she was responsible for export promotion for the Americas/Europe as well as the Asia/Africa Division.

Before joining MATRADE, she served in MIDA (the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority) for 12 years in the Engineering & Supporting Industries Division as well as Transport, and Machinery Industries Division. In MIDA, she was responsible for implementing, coordinating and promoting industrial development activities for the industries. Her duties included evaluating and recommending project proposals for domestic and foreign direct investments in Malaysia, which included evaluation of manufacturing license, tax incentives, duty exemption, expatriate posts and technical agreements for transfer of technology.

She graduated with BBA from Western Michigan University, USA as well as MBA from Saint Louis University, USA. She is a member of the Harvard Business School Alumni Club of Malaysia and completed the Harvard Business School ASEAN Senior Management Development Programme, 2013. She was an affiliate member of The Institute of Export & International Trade, UK in 2010.  She represented Malaysia in the Training for Commonwealth Trade Promotion Organisations, 2002 held in Malta. She is an alumni of the Friendship Programme for the 21st Century, an exchange programme in Japan organized by JICA under the International Cooperation Programme of the Government of Japan.
